旅游英语系列讲座之酒店

       走出国门，语言当先。本周卢新新老师的“旅游英语”系列讲座强势来袭，带领大家走遍天下。本次“旅游英语”系列讲座共分为四场，分别是酒店、景点、文化、购物，围绕旅游的重要环节展开。5月15日晚上19:00-21:00， “旅游英语之酒店”专题讲座在书明楼B303教室开讲。

      

       卢老师首先带领同学们了解酒店的基本部门，包含前厅部（the front office department）、客房部（the housekeeping department）、餐饮部（the food and beverage department）等。同时要了解酒店的基本房型，有单人间（single room）、标间（standard room）、双人间（double room）、家庭房（family room）、标准套房（standard suite）、豪华套房（deluxe suite）、总统套房（presidential suite）等。作为服务人员，在客人预订过程能够更好地向客人推荐相应的房型。作为游客，能够用英语完成预订，进行有效地沟通。还要了解酒店的基本服务，如入住（check-in）、退房（check-out）、叫早服务（morning call service）、客房送餐服务（room service）、开夜床服务（turn-down service）、维修服务（maintenance service）、洗衣服务（laundry service）等。作为服务人员，掌握这些专业名词，才能够更好地为客人提供服务。作为游客，掌握这些词汇，能够在出国游的过程中，更好地表达自己的需求，与服务人员进行沟通。

       随后，同学们进行对话练习，练习如何订房。
A: What rooms do you exactly want? 
B: We need one double room, and two single rooms for four of us.
A: What time will you be arriving? 
B: Around 4 p.m., the 21st of the month.
A: How can we find the hotel after we arrive? 
B: A local guide will be meeting you at the airport and there will be a car or shuttle bus pick-up service, which is free of charge.
A: How much do you charge for the rooms? 
B: $60 per night per room, plus 15% service charge.
A: What services come with that?
B: You'll have an air conditioner, a radio, a colour television, a telephone and a newspaper delivered to your room every day.
